National Book Critics Circle Award

The National Book Critics Circle Awards
1975 - Present

Each year the National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) presents awards for books published in English.  The categories are Fiction, Nonfiction, Biography, Autobiography, Poetry, and Criticism.  In the earlier years the biography and autobiography categories were combined.  Beginning in the 2010s the John Leonard Prize was added and this is awarded to the best first book in any genre, voted on by the NBCC membership.  In 2023 they will award the Gregg Barrios Book in Translation Prize, for the best book of any genre translated into English and published in the United States.
