Recognition presented annually by the Horror Writers Association (HWA) for superior achievement in dark fantasy and horror writing.  The awards have been presented annually since 1988, and it is named after the horror writer Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula.  There are currently 13 categories of which this guide will use nearly half.  There are also seven discontinued categories not currently represented in this guide.
