Awarded annually to the writer and illustrator of the most distinguished informational book published in English during the previous year.
The award is named in honor of Robert F. Sibert, long-time President of Bound to Stay Bound Books, Inc. (co-sponsor, along with the Association for Library Services to Children, of the award). The award has been given annually since 2001.
